WilkinsonEyre wins planning for Lord's

WilkinsonEyre has secured planning permission for the design of two new stands at the world-famous Lord’s cricket ground. The redevelopment of the stands at Lord’s forms the second phase of the ground’s updated masterplan.

The new stands will provide an extra 2,500 seats in three-tiered stands either side of the Stirling-Prize winning Media Centre. When complete, the capacity of the grounds will increase to 31,000 providing significant public amenities and enhanced spectator views.

The rapid-build design sequence has been developed to avoid any interruption to match fixtures with construction due to commence in August 2019 and the project due to complete in 2020.

MCC Chief Executive & Secretary Guy Lavender said: “MCC is moving into an exciting new chapter of the updated Masterplan by receiving planning permission to redevelop these stands. The new designs reveal the potential of the site and the enhancements that can be made, while complementing the J.P. Morgan Media Centre. The redeveloped stands will add to the world-class experience of watching, and playing, cricket at Lord’s.”WilkinsonEyre has secured planning permission for the design of two new stands at the world-famous Lord’s cricket ground.
