Weston Library wins an RIBA National Award

It was announced today that Weston Library in Oxford has won an RIBA National Award, recognising the project as a significant contribution to UK architecture. The national winners will now go on to be considered for the Stirling Prize – the biggest prize in UK architecture. A shortlist will be announced later in the summer and the winner is set to be revealed in October.

Commenting on the Weston Library, which was opened last year, the judges remarked: “WilkinsonEyre has achieved a masterpiece. This previously dead corner of Broad Street has had new life breathed into it, and a historic gem has been brought to life. The sheer ‘wow’ factor when entering stops you in your tracks and is an immediate reminder of what the building is about.”
