Suzhou Supertower

Wilkinson Eyre developed the design for this 460m mixed-use tower as part of an invited international design competition. The tower will become a new icon in the science and technology district of Suzhou, in the Yangtse Delta area of China. The tower has 110 storeys and provides 285,000sqm of retail, leisure, conferencing, office and residential space, as well as a luxury hotel and a series of viewing decks and sky gardens arranged in horizontal strata. Podium and tower levels are fused, presenting a seamless transition of form through curvilinear lower floors, circular intermediate levels and ovaloid upper floors. Energy consumption is minimised by reducing cooling and heating loads, optimising daylight and incorporating innovative recycling and renewable energy solutions.
