House of Human Rights
Designed for exhibition at the 2007 FuoriSalone in Milan, this conceptual scheme proposes a new House of Human Rights within the city. The ideas have been developed in collaboration with Amnesty International, who will take space in the new cultural centre alongside a series of non governmental organisations and other groups working in the field of human rights. The design looks critically at the ideas of boundaries, blurring these to allow public and private spaces to fuse and intersect, and applying the idea of inclusion throughout. The building accommodates a range of spaces including offices, an auditorium, gallery areas and a café. The communication of information is a central theme, and LED technologies have been integrated into the building envelope to transform the building into a powerful medium for transmitting information.
