Vinny Patel was attracted to the work of Wilkinson Eyre as a student, when he was initially drawn by the practice‘s transport projects. ‘There was an emphasis on detailing, and a concern with balancing the relationship between architecture and engineering in the work. There was an honesty in the structural design which informed the aesthetic. And the practice still adheres to those principles.’ Within the office he brings particular expertise during the detailed design and construction stages of projects. ‘I enjoy resolving technical design challenges, improving deliverability in terms of function and construction. I take a practical, design-based view - it’s the physicality of making architecture that appeals to me.’
