With a background in firms where there were few boundaries between architecture and engineering, Sebastien Ricard particularly enjoys the blurring between the disciplines at Wilkinson Eyre. 'The close relationship between idea, art, material and technique, and the team effort it takes to achieve that, is very specific to the practice.' He brings a structural logic to his work. 'I just believe things should be justified. Buildings are at their most beautiful when they represent the most obvious solution to the brief and context – and that's often the most difficult thing to achieve.'
