Giles Martin was drawn to the quality of design in the practice when he joined Wilkinson Eyre in 2004. 'Design quality doesn't necessarily have anything to do with budget; it's more to do with an attitude towards how a building is made, how it's detailed. It's about precision and thoroughness.' He particularly likes working on large urban projects. 'These bigger projects have to be considerate of their context and environment. Their design is all about making something appropriate to brief and setting, but at the same time uplifting. I think that's why clients come to us – because they want projects that are not only practical but go above and beyond the brief.'
