WilkinsonEyre designed tower in the heart of the City achieves planning permission

Mitsubishi Estate London has received planning permission from the City of London Corporation for the development of its WilkinsonEyre-designed Bishopsgate and Leadenhall Street Tower. The 40-storey office tower in the heart of the City comprises over 750,000ft² of gross office area. It also features ground floor retail and a viewing gallery on the top floor.

Chris Wilkinson said: “We are delighted to obtain planning permission to build on this important site in the City for Mitsubishi Estates. Our design will provide excellent office accommodation whilst respecting its urban context.”

Chief executive of Mitsubishi Estate London, Naoki Umeda, also commented: “We are delighted that we will now be able to deliver a striking landmark building for London that will further enhance its global appeal.”

The proposed building will include high sustainability and low-energy features and will also exceed the threshold for the BREEAM NC 2014 “Excellent” rating.
