New city-park design revealed for Tianjin, northern China

A team led by Grant Associates with WilkinsonEyre has won an international competition for a new 41 hectare Friendship Park in northern China.

The project for Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City occupies a central location on the Gu Dao Canal. The design vision for the park is for an all-season, international tourist destination that welcomes visitors of all ages, celebrating the friendship between China and Singapore.

The scheme features a conservatory complex comprising five ETFE biomes, each housing tropical plant collections and water gardens. A wetland centre, an urban dock, play areas, an event lawn and amphitheatre will also be included.

The design team also includes environmental design consultant Atelier Ten and structural engineer Atelier One.
