Planning permission granted for Splashpoint in Worthing

WilkinsonEyre has received planning permission for a new dynamic landmark swimming complex on Worthing's seaside. The result of an International RIBA Competition, the scheme will replace the ageing 1960s Aquarena.

Splashpoint Worthing will be a 'destination', drawing people in from the town and further afield. A sustainable development which responds to the natural environment of the seashore, the sinuous lines of the roof echo the wind swept ridges in the sand and provide the primary spatial and structural spines of the pool hall form which opens up views to the sea.

The design team includes Engineers AECOM and Drivers Jonas Deloitte as Project Managers. The building is scheduled to start on site in early 2011.
