Planning approval and listed building consent for New Bodleian Library

WilkinsonEyre has just received Planning Permission and Listed Building Consent for the redevelopment of Oxford University's New Bodleian Library. Originally designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott in the 1930s, the aim of the £78-million project is to create high quality storage for its valuable Special Collections which include precious manuscripts, books and maps; to develop facilities to support advanced research; and to expand access with new exhibition spaces and other public facilities.

The renovation and remodelling work will commence in summer 2011, with the building planning to reopen in 2014/2015.
