WilkinsonEyre wins contest to design Compton and Edrich stands at Lord's

Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) announced today that the next phase of development at Lord’s will be led by WilkinsonEyre. The practice was selected to design the Compton and Edrich stands following a design competition at the end of last year.

Guy Lavender, Chief Executive and Secretary of MCC, said, “The standard of competition for this project was extremely high and the interview panel was delighted with the quality of the submissions from all five firms. WilkinsonEyre presented a beautifully crafted design of two new stands which pays great respect to the existing Media Centre and yet delivers sufficient height to accommodate significantly more public seats than the existing structures. Their design really excited the members of the panel, who were unanimous in their view that the WilkinsonEyre scheme would be the most fitting for Lord’s.”

Detailed work on the design will begin immediately. It is hoped that, subject to the appropriate consent being obtained from Westminster City Council and the subsequent approval of MCC Members, construction work will commence after Lord’s hosts the final of the men’s ICC Cricket World Cup in the summer of 2019.
